A1 - Full Green
Firm, unripe bananas with no yellowing
Recommended stage for receiving at a ripening facility. Bananas are mature but not yet showing signs of colour break. Ideal for the controlled ripening process.
A2 - Light Green with a Hint of Yellow
The initial sign of ripening has begun
A slight yellow tinge indicates the onset of natural starch-to-sugar conversion. Still firm and best suited for continued ripening in controlled environments.
B1 - Half Green, Half Yellow
Balanced colouration with moderate firmness.
A transitional stage where the fruit is halfway ripened. Ideal for shipping to retailers as it offers shelf stability and visible ripeness progression.
B2 - Three Quarters Yellow with Green
Predominantly yellow with some green areas.
Perfect for retail displays. Bananas are approaching ripeness but still firm, offering a longer display file with a gradual softening.
B3 - Yellow with Slight Green Tips
Visible ripe with minimal green remaining.
